Former Oakland Athletics star Rickey Henderson, who was known as the “Man of Steal” during his illustrious career, is dead at 65.
According to TMZ, the MLB Hall of Famer passed away on Friday, losing a battle with pneumonia after treatment at a medical facility.
“Sources with direct knowledge tell us … Henderson passed away Friday in the Oakland area, and had been getting treatment at a hospital for a brief period,” the publication reported.

Rickey Henderson Had An Incredible MLB Career
Henderson holds the record for stolen bases and boasted a lengthy baseball career, playing for nine teams from 1979 to 2003.
While most of his time was spent in Oakland, he also featured for the Yankees, Blue Jays, Angels, Mets, Padres, Mariners, and the Red Sox before retiring with the Dodgers.

The 10-time All-Star registered over 3,055 hits and 297 home runs with a batting average of .279, as well as the all-time record for runs scored (2,295) and leadoff home runs (81). Henderson’s record for stolen bases stands at an incredible 1,406, with no other player in history even cracking 1,000.
