The New York Mets remain a massive favorite in signing Juan Soto. After the team’s incredible 2024 playoff run, Mets owner Steve Cohen is keen on adding top players to their squad. With Soto being a free agent, the franchise has no better opportunity to strike a deal.
Soto’s trade rumors are getting hotter by the day. MLB analyst Mike Rodriguez took to social media to elaborate more on the possibility of Soto to the Mets. Rodriguez’s post stated that Steve’s wife, Alexandra Cohen, is excited about possibly adding the best left-handed hitter in all of MLB.
Furthermore, he stated that Alexendra would support Soto’s taking on the role of team captain. Rodriguez also mentioned that the post was based on various sources and research.
Juan Soto joining the Mets is a dream come true for their fans. However, fans did not appreciate the idea of him becoming the team’s captain. Fans lashed out at X, saying that Francisco Lindor will always be the team’s captain and cannot be replaced.
Here’s a look at some of the fan reactions.

Five Teams Emerge As Favorites For Juan Soto
It’s not just the Yankees and the Mets anymore, as five teams have emerged as favorites to sign Juan Soto. The Yanks and the Mets might have the upper hand, but sources also say that the Los Angeles Dodgers will pursue the star.
The Dodgers have the money and a high chance of working things out with Soto’s agent, Scott Boras. Rumors also suggest that the Boston Red Sox will pursue Soto. Surprisingly, the Toronto Blue Jays are on the list as well.
Many believe the San Francisco Giants and Tampa Bay Rays are also favorites. However, the chances of the Giants and Rays signing Soto are slim. It’s just a matter of time before Soto stays with the Yanks or moves on to another team.
