The New York Mets are considered a top suitor for Juan Soto. Several MLB experts have predicted the Mets to seal a deal with the star slugger. Apart from them, the Yankees are also a favorite. Yet, Steven Cohen and his squad have made a move on Clay Holmes.
Many were surprised to see the team sign Clay Holmes instead of Soto. Fans were eager to hear the news of Soto’s signing, but the team had other plans. Holmes agreed to a three-year $38 million contract, making his rival team his home.
After his signing, fans have questioned the team’s potential to sign Soto. Many started to wonder if the Mets were really serious about signing Soto. The franchise had already spent $38 million and is predicted to sign Soto for over $600 million.
Right-hander Clay Holmes and the New York Mets are in agreement on a three-year, $38 million contract with an opt-out after the second year, sources tell ESPN. Mets plan to turn Holmes, who has spent his big league career as a RP, into a starter. On the news: @Joelsherman1.

New York Mets Look To Shake Things Up With A New Pitching Lineup
The Mets have let go of Luis Severino as they showed no interest in signing the pitcher. Despite Severino having a decent run with the Mets, they are keen on starting fresh. Adding Clay Holmes to their squad is part of a new beginning.
The franchise has not talked about Sean Manaea and Jose Quintana, either. It seems like they are interested in adding some new arms to their lineup. It’s unclear what Cohen and company have offered Soto, but fans are growing tired of the Soto drama.
The Yankees are still a favorite, and the Blue Jays and Red Sox are back in the race. However, it’s believed that Soto’s free agency is finally coming to an end. The All-Star is expected to sign with a team anytime soon.
