The Chicago White Sox have surprised the MLB world by making a significant change to their Ballpark’s name. The franchise had a miserable 2024 season and things are not going well for the team. Chicago hopes to have a better 2025 season and they started it off with a new name.
While they have not changed the name entirely, they have shortened it by removing one word. The White Sox’s home stadium will no longer be called Guaranteed Rate Field. Instead, it will be known as just “Rate Field.”
The news about this change broke out on Wednesday, and MLB fans cannot help but troll the franchise for the same. Here’s a look at some of the fan reactions on X.

White Sox’s Home Stadium Name Chance Comes After Mortgage Firm’s Rebrand
The Chicago White Sox had a 13-year agreement with Guaranteed Rate, a Chicago-based mortgage company. It turns out that the mortgage company planned a rebranding strategy to change the name.
The 13-year agreement included a team option for 2030. The White Sox are also seeking funds to construct a new stadium in the city’s South Loop. Since 2016, the team’s home stadium has been Guaranteed Rate Field.
The stadium was previously known as U.S. Cellular Field, and the first ballpark was known as New Comiskey Park. The White Sox have not made significant trades this offseason, but they hope not to finish last in 2025. On the other hand, the Yankees have been in hot pursuit of Pete Alonso as their first baseman.
