Juan Soto had one of the best seasons this year, and it could possibly be his last in pinstripes. Soto was on the verge of winning his second ring, but the New York Yankees failed to make it past the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Yanks had an incredible journey to make it to the World Series. That said, it’s safe to say that it would not have been possible without Soto. The 26-year-old was the driving force for his team as he scored 41 home runs and recorded 109 RBIs.
The Bronx Bombers were only fortunate to sign Soto for one year. Now that he’s a free agent, the stakes are high, and several teams are ready to extend their best offer. Juan Soto indeed connected with the team, but the chances of remaining in the Bronx are questionable. At least, according to MLB broadcaster Stephen A. Smith.
In an interview with ESPN MLB, Smith said he was afraid Soto would leave. He also believes that the failure of the Yankees’ World Series will lead to Soto’s departure. Smith discussed this with radio personality Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo.
“I’m scared he’s gonna leave because I’m telling you now about high-end competitors. There’s a level of sympathy and empathy you have for people who just can’t do it. All of a sudden, you shrink beneath that spotlight; there’s nothing stars detest more. There’s nothing more sickening than that,” Smith said.
Smith further blamed the Yankees for their failure to perform under pressure. He also called out on Aaron Judge for lagging behind. The broadcaster believes that Juano Soto will have a better choice to make if the Dodgers and the Mets provide him with an offer.

“If you are Soto, Why would you not go somewhere else rather than play with a bunch of dudes who shrunk when the lights were most brightest,” Smith continued.
Juan Soto Remains Thankful To Yankees Fans
It’s unclear if Soto will stay with the Yankees since the competition is pretty high. The slugger has the opportunity to pick from the best. On the other hand, Soto was clear that he would be open to all 30 teams.
Soto said that he was thankful to Yankees fans, especially after his vast support throughout the season. Yankee fans were chanting for Soto to stay after his incredible stint with the team. The slugger was glad to have a deep connection with his new fans in the Bronx.
A number of top teams are expected to go all in for Soto. Trade rumors are already swirling for Soto as the off-season has picked up its pace. Soto is one of the top free agents ahead of the 2024 season.
