The New York Mets have had one of the best offseasons by creating history in all sports. After acquiring former Yankees slugger Juan Soto, the franchise recorded the highest deal in sports history. The team has built an incredible offense by bringing back key players like Pete Alonso.
As a team, they have improved their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. Steve Cohen is keen on winning the World Series title, but will Soto and Alonso alone be enough? According to MLB broadcaster Michael Kay, the team has a formidable offense, but it’s the pitching that needs more focus.
“This is a better offense; now, their starting pitching concerns me. Kodai Senga is a really good pitcher when he’s healthy. Is he going to be healthy? The Mets can have their six-man rotation in order to keep him healthy. He wasn’t healthy last year, that’s a big deal. You’ve lost Luis Severino, you’re asking Clay Holmes to become a starter? Can he become a starter? Frankie Montas big question mark. Sean Manaea had a great year, but ran out of gas against the Dodgers,” Kay said.
The broadcaster went on to discuss Peterson and said the Mets don’t have a dynamic big-time starter in their rotation. Kay said the Mets don’t have the depth in their starting rotation.
Mark Vientos Sheds Light On Pete Alonso Returning To The Mets
Vientos recently addressed reporters and discussed the team’s lineup. Earlier, Francisco Alvarez mentioned that his team has the best lineup in baseball. Vientos agreed with Alvarez’s comments, saying Steve Cohen and David Sterns put together a good lineup.
The slugger further touched upon Alonso’s return to Queens. Vientos said that Alonso has played a crucial part in the team over the years.

“He’s been producing for this team and putting up numbers for this team for a while. I’m just glad he’s back. We bonded last year, and we created a great relationship, especially in the playoffs,” Vientos said.
