If someone told you an opposing player got doused with beer at Citi Field, you would automatically think that a fan did it on purpose.
This was not the case on this day. On Sunday, the New York Mets were taken on the Milwaukee Brewers when a long fly ball came out to the warning track and fans began to stick their hands up in an effort to catch it.
Only problem with that is the ball was just short of being a home run. One guy really wanted that ball, so he reached over the field of play and accidentally doused Brewers’ Ryan Braun with beer as he tried to catch the ball.
Interference was somehow not called on this play at all.
The ball ended up hitting off the top of the wall, as Pete Alonso lugged his way to a triple. Alonso scored on Todd Frazier’s single for a 1-0 lead.
