Max Scherzer is sick and tired of being checked by umpires.
Scherzer’s return to the mound is great news for Nationals fans, but he was quickly annoyed on Tuesday as Major League Baseball continues to crack down on pitchers using foreign substances to control the ball. To enforce the new rules, umpires are checking pitchers in between innings to see if they’re using anything illegal.
After the first inning, Scherzer was stopped on his way off the mound. He was clearly not thrilled with needing to be inspected.
Later in the game, he tossed his glove on the ground as well as his hat and started to unbuckle his belt.
