Max Scherzer is the only veteran pitcher left on the free agent market. After Justin Verlander signed with the San Francisco Giants, Scherzer is still looking for a home. The 40-year-old will be at the end of his career, and the next team will probably be his retirement home.
Scherzer and the Texas Rangers parted ways, and he’s eagerly hoping to pitch in 2025. The Rangers have not shown interest in bringing him back. That said, a few teams have shown interest in signing the veteran pitcher.
Scherzer’s 2024 season was not up to the mark after he sustained injuries. The pitcher recorded a 3.95 ERA with a 2-4 record. Max Scherzer helped the Rangers win their 2023 World Series title, but the franchise has been looking for other options on their starting rotation.
The right-handed pitcher is a future Hall of Famer, and he deserves one more shot before he calls it a day. Scherzer is ready to pitch in 2025, and he’s waiting for the perfect opportunity.

Toronto Blue Jays Are Interested In Acquiring Max Scherzer
Many free agents were linked to the Blue Jays this offseason. From Juan Soto to Roki Sasaki, and now Scherzer. Surprisingly, several free agents have fallen out at the last minute. Sasaki picked the Dodgers, and now Tanner Scott. Toronto was also linked to Scott, but things didn’t go well.
For some reason, players have picked other teams, and the Blue Jays have failed to sign them. However, Scherzer will be a good fit for the team. The Blue Jays need to bolster their starting rotation if they want to become a competent team.

Adding Scherzer to a short-term deal will make things work in the north. General manager Ross Atkins mentioned earlier that the Blue Jays are going to check in on everyone. Max Scherzer can lead the starting rotation and be a cheaper option for the Blue Jays.
Toronto has enough on its plate, as it needs to deal with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette. At present, it cannot pursue another high-profile player until it fixes things with Vladdy before he hits free agency. The Blue Jays are also believed to be in on Alex Bregman, but their chances are pretty slim.
