Kris Bryant is on the move.
On Friday and just before the trade deadline, the Chicago Cubs sent Kris Bryant to the NL West leading San Francisco Giants. In return for Kris Bryant, the Giants are sending back outfielder Alexander Canario and righty pitcher Caleb Killian, two top 30 prospects from the Giants farm system.
Bryant was extremely emotional about the trade as cameras were rolling and caught him when he found out about it in the dugout.
On the year, he’s hitting .267 with a .861 OPS, 18 home runs, and 51 runs batted in. The 2016 NL MVP and World Series champion made his fourth all-star game this year.
The Cubs appear to be in rebuild mode after they also sent Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees, Javier Baez to the New York Mets, and Craig Kimbrel to the Chicago White Sox ahead of the deadline.
