New York Mets’ pitcher Kodai Senga left baseball fans in awe with his nasty “Ghost Forkball” pitch that overwhelmed Arizona Diamondback hitters on Wednesday night.
The 30-year-old Senga started the Mets’ road game against the NL West-leading D-Backs at Chase Field. Senga turned in a grade-A performance, allowing just four hits and one earned run to go along with 12 strikeouts in eight innings pitched.
Senga’s dominance helped the Mets to a much-needed 2-1 victory in Arizona, improving him to 7-5 on the year while also lowering his ERA to 3.31.
On his Twitter account, Rob Friedman posted two clips of Arizona hitters getting absolutely fooled by the Ghost Forkball.
Here is how fans on social media reacted to Senga’s filthy pitch:

The 30-year-old Senga played for the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan from 2012 to 2022. The three-time NPB All-Star signed a five-year deal with the Mets last winter for $75 million.
Senga’s impressive play has been one of the few positives for a Mets team that many view as the No. 1 disappointments in baseball right now. The Mets won 101 games last year and ended a six-year playoff drought, only to be dispatched by the San Diego Padres in the Wild Card Series.
Despite a four-game win streak, the Mets entered play on Thursday 6.5 games out of the final NL wild card spot.
