Kevin Kelly is going viral this week over a disgusting pitch that he tossed recently.
There aren’t many organizations in baseball that are better at developing young pitchers than the Tampa Bay Rays. Kevin Kelly is just the latest to prove that notion.
The rookie right-hander recently showed off a filthy sweeping breaking ball during Tuesday’s win over the Los Angeles Angels.
His sweeping pitch dropped a ridiculous 21 inches of horizontal break to strike out Brett Phillips in the seventh inning.
Imagine trying to hit a pitch that starts off as a clear ball and then breaks inward for a strike. That is disgusting and unfair.
Last December, Kelly came from obscurity as a Rule 5 draft choice and has quickly become a member of the bullpen for the Rays.

The franchise has qualified for the playoffs just a total of eight times since coming into the league in 1998.
