Justin Verlander’s wife, Kate Upton, got her fans worried with an unusual Instagram story last month. The Sports Illustrated model was reaching out for some legal advice from law enforcement.
Upton’s message seemed to be about a scary emergency situation about a drunk and high dad. She wrote that a dad, recently out of rehab, was traveling with his daughter, who was 10 years old and claimed to have a gun. While there were no other details, such as names, some fans thought that the model was referring to Justin Verlander.
Almost a month had passed since her post, and Upton had to clarify that she was not referring to the MLB star. The 32-year-old took to social media to reassure that her previous message was not for Verlander and her daughter.
“To clarify: we do not have a 10-year-old. Our daughter is 6, and Justin would never put her in such a terrifying or life-threatening situation. He is a wonderful father whose unwavering priority is ensuring our daughter is safe, loved, and protected every single day,” Kate Upton wrote.
It turns out that the 10-year-old she was talking about was her niece. Upton said that she had been trying to protect her niece while navigating the complexities of the legal system. She further said that along with her, Justin Verlander and her sister are doing all they can to help her niece. Now that Kate Upton has clarified everything, her fans can be at ease.
Justin Verlander’s MLB Future Hangs By A Thread
Justin Verlander is a free agent, and not many teams are going all out for the nine-time All-Star. At 41, Verlander is easily one of the oldest pitchers available in the free-agent market. With starting pitchers like Max Fried given more preference, Verlander’s MLB future hangs by a thread.

It’s unsure if the Houston Astros are ready to sign Verlander. The Astros have their hands full while they have shifted their focus to Alex Bregman. Houston is also predicted to trade Kyle Tucker, and not many teams have been pursuing Verlander.
Trading Tucker will probably be a smart financial move for the Astros. Additionally, staying away from Verlander will benefit the team in some way. Even if they do offer Verlander a deal, it would only be on a short-term basis.
