Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher Julio Urias cannot seem to keep his hands to himself.
On Sunday night, he found himself arrested for felony domestic violence, according to TMZ.
“Los Angeles Dodgers starter Julio Urías was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence charges late last night, an officer with the LAPD tells ESPN. Urias, 27, was booked late Sunday and released early this morning on $50,000 bond,” he reported on Monday afternoon.
As you may be aware, this is the second time Urias has faced domestic violence issues. He was suspended in 2019 as the result of a domestic battery investigation. Urias reportedly pushed a woman to the ground during an argument in a parking lot at a shopping area. The woman denied a physical altercation when speaking with police, but TMZ noted “video from the scene appeared to back up the witness accounts.”
MLB and the MLB Players Association announced a new joint domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse policy in 2015. A criminal conviction is not necessary for the league to punish players.
The 27-year-old is 11-8 on the year with a 4.60 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. This comes at a bad time as the Dodgers are competing for the best record in the National League.
