As far as home run celebrations go, this is one of the most ruthless ones we’ve seen. And it wouldn’t shock us one bit if it resulted in Josh Naylor getting beaned the next time he steps up to the plate.
Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning of Game 4 of the ALDS, Naylor brought his Cleveland Guardians to within one by belting a home run to right-center field off New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole.
Then, as he made his way around the bases, he was anything but quiet about his accomplishment, taunting Cole with a “rocking the baby” gesture while screaming, “That’s my little f-cking son!”
Naylor may have had fun with his home run trot, but his Guardians are still trailing 3-2 in this crucial game. The last thing they want to do is blow this opportunity to close out the series at home.
Should that happen, Cleveland will be forced to go back on the road and win a decisive Game 5 in New York on Monday if they want to advance to the ALCS.
