Like everybody else at the camp, Jose Altuve is ready to do all under his capacity to keep Alex Bregman at the Houston Astros. There has been no clarification from the front office about what they want to do with the all-time Astros. While he is getting enough interest from multiple franchises, the uncertainty is far from over.
Altuve recently sent a powerful message to Houston regarding the potential return of third baseman Alex Bregman. During a fan event, Altuve expressed his willingness to make personal sacrifices for the team’s success.
“For Alex, I’d do whatever. Like I said, he’s one of the best players in the whole league and definitely one of the best players on the team. We want him to stay, so whatever I have to do for him to stay, I’m willing to do it,” Altuve said on Saturday.

However, the potential re-signing is not as easy and appealing as it seems. There is a lot of uncertainty about where he would play, as he has always held down the third base position. General manager Dana Brown confirmed that if Bregman returns, he will indeed play third base. And if that happens, it will ultimately put pressure on new acquisition Isaac Paredes. But that won’t make sense either since Paredes was brought in as a backup plan after the team’s prior uncertainty.

Baseball analyst Bruce Levine recently shared that a close friend of the 2x World Champion has indicated the All-Star third baseman regrets turning down the Astros’ offer.
“According to his friend, he regretted doing it. There is talk that he may return to Houston,” Levine said on his podcast, per Marca.
