Jose Altuve not letting his teammates rip off his jersey after he hit a walk-off home run during the 2019 American League Championship Series against the Yankees has caused a lot of controversy as people began to suspect that he was wearing a buzzer to help the team steal signs.
His teammate, Carlos Correa, later blamed it on “an unfinished tattoo on his collarbone that honestly looked terrible.”
A picture of a shirtless Altuve would soon surface showing no tattoo, but that was from July.
On Monday, Altuve made sure to whip off his shirt in front of reporters, revealing the ink does actually exist. The tattoo is of his daughter Melanie’s name.
Rumors that the Astros used electronic buzzers to steal signs in 2019 haven’t been proven, but Altuve’s actions following that home run have fueled that speculation.

We will likely never know if that was the true reason he did not want his jersey off. At this point, the team hasn’t actually warranted anybody believing anything they say.
