This whole “Slap Heard ‘Round Baseball” that Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tommy Pham delivered to the San Francisco Giants’ Joc Pederson prior to their game on Friday is the gift that keeps on giving.
So far, we’ve heard a couple of varying stories regarding exactly what sparked their confrontation in the outfield as both teams were warming up for their series opening game Friday night. Pederson has claimed that the dispute resulted from some confusion over the use of the I.R. spot in a fantasy football league that the two professional ballplayers take part in.
It was later revealed by Pham that he not only felt that Pederson was cheating him out of money, but he also didn’t appreciate some of the disrespectful things that Joc was saying about Pham’s former team, the San Diego Padres, in his fantasy league’s group chat.
Of course, the media had to ask Perderson exactly which comments Pham was referring to. And when they did, the Giants slugger whipped out his phone and showed everyone the receipts.
Apparently, it was a GIF of three weightlifters that Pham didn’t appreciate. In the GIF, two weightlifters representing the Giants and Dodgers successfully lift their weights, while the one representing the Padres collapses under the pressure.
Here’s Pederson showing his receipts to the media for proof:

Seriously? Pham, a millionaire professional baseball players, nearly started an all-out, bench-clearing brawl and got suspended for three games over a couple hundred (maybe thousand) bucks and a gif?
Note to self: Do not get on Tommy Pham’s bad side. Dude holds onto grudges like it’s toilet paper during a pandemic.
