Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez had dated for multiple years and even got engaged to be married. Things took a drastic turn in 2021 when cheating rumors surfaced and their split had been talked about.
They calmed those talks as they worked on their relationship behind the scenes. However, the couple called it quits this week.
“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects. We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support,” the couple said in a statement to TODAY.
The reason for the breakup was not clear, but social media users noticed on the same day that the former couple confirmed that they were no longer engaged, Lopez liked a telling quote by author Reuben Holmes, who goes by r.h. Sin, on Instagram. “Don’t make her think you care. when you have never given a f–k about her,” the post read, and alongside the quote, Holmes wrote: “Don’t let them manipulate you. How many times have you been told ‘I love you’ by someone who has continued to treat you like s—t?”
“Uh oh, jlo liked this post?! What’s going on!” one user exclaimed, while another wrote: “Damn, @jlo this shows me really nobody is safe from bs like this.”
