On Saturday afternoon, the New York Yankees took to the field for a scrimmage ahead of the restart of the 2020 MLB season and tragedy struck the Bronx Bombers.
During the game, Masahiro Tanaka faced off against Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton and it ended bad for the pitcher as Stanton smashed a line drive right back at Tanaka who tried to duck out of the way.
The ball hit the Yankees ace in the head and he immediately slumped to the ground while holding his head.

The Yankees announced that Tanaka is alert and responsive, and is able to walk under his own power.
The 31-year-old pitcher has started at least 30 games for the Yankees in three of the last four seasons.
