Facing elimination in Game 4 of the ALDS, the Yankees turned to their ace Gerrit Cole to extend their season. Cole did not disappoint as he gave up just two runs and six hits over seven innings while striking out eight to earn the victory against the Guardians to force a decisive Game 5.
Although he pitched great, Cole did serve up a massive solo home run to Cleveland designated hitter Josh Naylor in the fourth inning to cut the Yankees lead to 3-2. The outspoken Naylor seemed to have words for Cole as he was rounding the bases.
When asked after the game about Naylor’s trip around the bases, Cole seemed unfazed by the whole situation.
On the other hand, Yankees fans were not so amused by Naylor’s antics.

It’s no surprise that those same Yankees fans got a kick out of Cole’s response during his post game press conference.
They immediately took to Twitter to show support for their ace following the Yanks’ big win to stay alive in the ALDS:
Game 5 is set for Monday night at Yankee Stadium with Jameson Taillon taking the hill for New York while Cleveland will counter with Aaron Civale. The winner will move on to the A.L.C.S. where they will take on the Houston Astros.
