George Springer’s sister hasn’t forgotten that Oakland Athletics right-hander Mike Fiers was the man who blew the whistle on the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scheme.
Lena Springer took to Twitter on Tuesday and demanded Oakland put Fiers on the mound as the two clubs face off in their American League Divison Series.
The 35-year-old hurler, who pitched for the Astros from 2015 to 2017, has yet to appear in the series against his former team. In fact, Fiers has somehow not appeared in one game against the Astros in 10 games played in the regular season as well as 2 games so far played in the ALDS.
Fiers told the media in November 2019 that the team stole signs electronically during its 2017 World Series-winning season and MLB used that info to find out that Houston cheated during that campaign and parts of 2018.
