The New York Mets have struggled early on, and a former big leaguer says he knows why.
Former MLB player Jason Kipnis called out the New York Mets, most notably, former teammate Francisco Lindor. Speaking on the “Foul Territory Podcast” with AJ Pierzynski, Kipnis was talking about the Mets’ struggles:
“All of those veterans and no leadership,” Kipnis said earlier this week on “Foul Territory.” He was eventually asked directly about his former teammate, Lindor.
“I’m gonna repeat it again. All those veterans and no leadership,” he said. “If everybody is a veteran there, you’re kinda just under the assumption that everybody is taking care of their business and going about the things the right way.”
On Friday night, Lindor was asked by reporters to respond to his former teammate’s comments. Lindor politely declined to respond.
He may have taken the high road, but his wife had to say something about it.
“My husband is such a classy person, would never say what a bully Kipnis was in the clubhouse. Sounds like a true leader versus the opposite of a leader,” she said.

Lindor and Kipnis were teammates in Cleveland for five seasons, helping the team reach the World Series in 2016.
He lasts a lifetime.275-pounder with 190 home runs and 612 RBI. In his career, he has also stolen 129 bases. Lindor has four All-Star appearances and two Gold Glove awards. In 2018, he led Major League Baseball in runs scored (129) and was nominated for MVP five times.
Kipnis played in the major leagues for ten years, nine with Cleveland and one with the Cubs. He was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.260-pounder with 126 home runs and 545 RBIs.
Lindor will get to play his former team when the Mets play the Cleveland Guardians on Friday.
