Fireworks cap off nearly every Fourth of July celebration across the country each year, and just like in year’s past, something bad always seem to happen somewhere in this country.
That somewhere happened during the St. Lucie Mets’ fireworks display that did not go off as planned. The New York Mets’ Class A affiliate based out of Port St. Lucie, Florida, attempted to put on a fireworks show after their 4-1 win against Daytona on Thursday night and it all went bad.
It actually started a massive fire just outside of the stadium.
Despite the fire going on, the Mets continued to set off the remaining fireworks.

Thankfully, nobody was injured on this night.
This actually wasn’t the first time this had happened. A three- to four-acre brush fire broke out at the same stadium after a fireworks display in 2017.
That’s two fires in three years. It might be time to retire the fireworks display since it has been proven to be very unsafe on multiple occasions.
