The New York Mets made one of the biggest moves this offseason by signing Juan Soto. Steve Cohen spent a whopping amount this offseason on several players. While there is still enough time for the regular season, they seem to be discussing signing Alex Verdugo.
The New York Yankees are not interested in Verdugo, especially after his 2024 stint, which was not too great. However, it’s hard to dismiss the fact that Verdugo helped the team reach the World Series.
MLB fans always speak their mind and seem to have noticed a pattern with the Mets. The franchise has signed a couple of former players, whom the Yankees have dismissed. It started out with Luis Severino, Clay Holmes, and now Verdugo. Soto does not fall in this category, but fans have noticed the team is obsessed with players that the Yankees reject.

Mets Are Slipping Out On Pete Alonso Amid Contract Issues
Several fans are surprised that the team has not progressed on Pete Alonso. After a strong season in 2024, Alonso was expected to return to Queens. However, there seems to be some contract issues between the two.
Alonso is reportedly looking for a $200 million deal with a long-term contract. The 30-year-old is bound to find a team before the regular season, but it might take a while. Furthermore, the Mets might not pursue Alonso if he’s keen on $200 million.
