Aaron Judge hit his 62nd home run in the game the Yankees lost 3-2 to the Texas Rangers back in the 2022 MLB regular season.
Cory Youmans, the fan who caught Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run ball, declined a $3 million offer for it because he thought he could get way more for it. He declined offers to meet Judge and receive other perks in exchange for the ball.
JP Cohen, president of Memory Lane Auctions, wuld soon offer $2 million for it and still it would be declined.
“We did make an offer of $2 million, and that offer is still valid,” Cohen told the Associated Press. “I feel the offer is way above fair, if he is inclined to sell it.”
Youmans told ESPN at the time he hoped that Judge, the Yankees, or National Baseball Hall of Fame purchase the ball through the auction, which he feels is the most diplomatic path.
As it turns out, it appears it does not pay to be greedy.
Fast forward to December and that ball sold at an auction for $1.5 million.
