A 40-year-old woman and her two-year-old son died at Petco Park on Saturday after falling from the third-level concourse.
Police have not yet determined if the fall was accidental but noted the deaths “appeared to be suspicious.”
“Our hearts obviously go out to the family, but also to the people here who could potentially be traumatized who saw this,” Homicide Lt. Andra Brown said. “It’s a horrible, horrible thing. That’s why we’re giving it a very serious look.”
The child’s father was also at the ballpark during the time of the deaths.
Days later and we now have an eyewitness who has come forward to piece together what exactly happened.

“A 72-year-old woman who wished to be unnamed was visiting her family in San Diego. She was at Petco Park and witnessed this tragic incident.
Her daughter sent ABC 10News a statement that said she was with her son at the tables on the third level before the game and crossed paths with the woman, her son, a man, and their dog.
She said the man was standing by the railing, but the woman held her baby and suddenly began jumping on the bench of the table closest to the railing.
The witness said the woman seemed happy and laughing, even as she lost her balance and fell off the bench onto the floor. About a minute later, the witness said the woman climbed back up the bench and did it again, this time, falling with her baby over the railing.”
“About 30 seconds or a minute later, she jumped back up and did it again, facing the man as she jumped with the baby,” the witness remembered. “I remember saying, ‘I can’t believe she’s doing that again,’ and then she was gone… From my vantage point, looking at her back, it was almost like she rolled over the railing. I told my son, ‘Oh my gosh she went over!'”

The witness claimed she heard no screams, but did hear teh sound of the two when they hit the ground below.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives are still gathering evidence and speaking with any possible witnesses.
