Who knew in 2019 that Darryl Strawberry’s name would be trending over something he said, but here we are…
TMZ had caught up with the former controversial baseball player and asked him thoughts on athletes using marijuana, and he was strongly against the idea. He wanted to remind people that weed was a gateway drug that would ultimately lead to other tougher drugs, such as in his case.
“Most people don’t understand marijuana is a drug,” the 56-year-old tells TMZ Sports … “It’s just the beginning. Starting people off when they’re young and then it leads to everything else.”
“Most young people start off with marijuana … it’s a gateway. I started with marijuana when I was young — 14, 15 years old — and it led me to everything else.”
We asked Darryl if he advocates for any Rx drug for pain management and he told us — “There’s no such thing as pain management for prescription drugs. They’ve gotten totally out of control.”
Once that video made the rounds, many people had their opinion on it and most people brought up his intense drug use as a strong point against him.
Much like Stephen Jackson did. The former NBA player took to social media and absolutely blasted Strawberry for being coke head and having the nerve to speak ill of marijuana.
