Santo Domingo Palace of Justice revealed that there are now nine suspects, including two women, under arrest in what Dominican police are now calling the attempted assassination of former Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz.
Witnesses say the shooting was carried out by two men on a motorcycle and two other groups of people in cars. The alleged coordinator of the attack was offered 400,000 Dominican pesos, or about $7,800, to carry out the shooting. It has been stated that the alleged coordinator is in custody.
There were also rumors that the person who wanted the hit to take place was a high-profiled drug lord, but no names had surfaced or authorities were keeping their mouths closed.
There has been some grumblings on social media and rumors circulating that the alleged drug lord was none other than Cesar El Abusador.
“Image of the narco Caesar (the abuser), prowling the clinic Abel Gonzalez, night of the attack on David Ortiz. Ask, who protects is delinquent?”

It is alleged that David Ortiz has been messing with the wife/woman a man often called “El Abusador,” aka The Abuser. This is where it all begins. This man owns various nightclubs in the country and is believed to be the biggest kingpin in DR.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
He, supposedly, made several attempts of trying to reach out to Ortiz and ask him to respect his authority and knock it off. However, Ortiz continued his relationship with this woman—perhaps out of arrogance. He is Big Papi of course.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Some time in the last month (some said 2 weeks, others said 4; we’ll go with a month), El Abusador had enough and put a hit on Ortiz’s head. Ortiz himself believed he was being followed one night, in his very expensive SUV, with little protection. (Be mindful this is in DR.)
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Ortiz, fearing for his life, intentionally crashed his vehicle near a fire station to both attract attention and essentially take refugee with these firemen. The vehicle(s) he believed to have been following him drove off and he was safe.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
This is where things get interesting. HE believed these things. Yet, instead of fleeing the country, or at the very least keeping himself inaccessible from the public, he shook it off, relying on the protection of his bodyguards and the national police (more on them in a second).
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Even then, Ortiz is believed to have continued his relationship with this woman. Never mind the fact that Ortiz is married and has children.
Now, I don’t know if the intent was to KILL Ortiz that first time, assuming this is all true, but let’s get to Sunday now. It gets wild.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
As you know, Ortiz was shot. There was a lot of misleading information fed to the public. To understand this, let’s first dive into the national police force and the Dominican government.
CORRUPTION.
That’s it. That’s the whole deep dive.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
The national police force is a cesspool of corruption, bribery and alliances to people of power, both due to money and fear. El Abusador? He’s one of those men of “influence.” Most told me the national police is terrified of him.
And so, here come the smoke screens.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
The first idea introduced to us was that it was a failed robbery. Yeah. Okay. A man approached Ortiz from behind and shot him from point blank range. He was maybe 3 feet from him. That’s a weird way to commit a robbery.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
The second idea was that it was a misunderstanding, in which a rapper who was amongst them was the one meant to be shot. Over some weak rap beef. Again, the footage says otherwise. This is largely due to the fact that the police rather not make the real connection.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Here’s the latest false info, according to what I was told. Yes, it was a hit job. Yes, it was likely for that $8,000 figure that has been reported. But it was NOT a murder attempt, although that’s what the guy who shot him is facing.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Apparently, El Abusador wanted to be a bit more particular about his revenge. Instead of killing Ortiz, he wanted him paralyzed, at the very least from the hip down. The shot was meant to hit his spine. This makes some sense.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Forget the motive for a second. The shot entered Ortiz’s lower back and exited his abdomen. That kind of lines up. At that range, if they wanted to kill Ortiz, you’d imagine he would certainly be dead by now. Again. This is all hearsay. But logically…I see it.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Now, in that sense, it was botched. Ortiz is expected to make a full recovery. But two points are to be made here. It was fascinating, to me anyway, to see the Red Sox have a private jet ready to extract Ortiz IN AN INSTANCE.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Let’s say it was a robbery, or misunderstanding, or whatever the case may be. He’s even fearing for his life AT the hospital? Interesting stuff. The second point is what could’ve happened at the hospital. Ortiz/his clique was/were right.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
The FBI and DEA were working on some unrelated case in DR. They may have inadvertently saved Ortiz’s life by gaining interest in the situation. It’s believed at that point, El Abusador would have sent or did send (and they veered off) shooters to kill him at the hospital.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
That is NUTS. There are so many questions. Why continue messing with this woman after the first scare? Why go to a very public, accessible club and sit OUTSIDE? Clearly Ortiz had too much confident in the corrupt and inept national police.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Furthermore, he’s believed to have been WITH a bodyguard or two, although they were drinking/socializing and may have been unarmed. (An unarmed bodyguard in DR is just your friend, not a bodyguard).
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
The media also tried to push the agenda that perhaps Ortiz ($22 million net worth) owed somebody money. A ton of nonsense. This all out of fear of this kingpin. However, with the FBI and DEA getting involved, things will get interesting.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
One of the suspects, via his lawyer, already claims David Ortiz, one of the most recognizable men on the country, was NOT his intended target. He was “confused by his clothes.” First of all, LOL. Secondly, then WHO? Okay.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
It was also reported that Ortiz BEGGED those handling his care to not let him die. In the moment in which it was reported, it seemed like what the typical man with a damn gunshot wound would say. But with this new “information,” it takes a whole new tone. https://t.co/U16QJizFUv
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
And while many, if not most of this, COULD be inaccurate, do not let what the Dominican National Police find be the deciding factor. The corruption that occurs within that force is beyond belief. If anything, allow the FBI/DEA to comment on it.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
(I purposely left out the fact that multiple (I believe just two) women were fighting with each other AT THE HOSPITAL over Ortiz. There’s video of that floating around.)
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
I again want to reiterate that I’m not necessarily saying ANY OF THIS is true. It’s merely what I’ve been told is circulating and what people with ties believe to be true.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 14, 2019
Ortiz is also believed to have bought a ($84,000) 2019 Lexus for a woman. It’s uncertain if that was for the same woman, or a different woman. Documents have appeared.
— Trey Rodriguez (@TreyRodriguezNY) June 15, 2019
It should be noted as the Twitter user stated that this is all hearsay and can’t be confirmed at this time.
Meanwhile, in Boston, Ortiz’s wife said in a statement that the former Red Sox slugger was able to sit up and take some steps as he recuperates in ICU.
“His condition is guarded, and he will remain in the ICU for the coming days, but he is making good progress toward recovery,” Tiffany Ortiz said in the statement.
On Wednesday night, Ortiz’s daughter Alex also sent a message of thanks via Instagram.
