The Los Angeles Dodgers plan on building a dynasty to win as many championships as possible. After winning the World Series in 2024, they continued to build their roster by resigning old players and acquiring new stars.
A New Year has begun, and the Boys in Blue are ready to continue their hot pursuit of players. The Dodgers are in the pitching market, ready to add some depth to their starting rotation. The franchise met with Japanese star Roki Sasaki and hopes to lure him to Los Angeles.
Recently, they have been linked with the Seattle Mariners for an All-Star pitcher. It turns out that they are keen on bringing in Luis Castillo in a blockbuster deal. Castillo is the Mariners’ top pitcher, and they will not give him up until they get something good in return.
The Dodgers will have some competition here since the Mariners will not listen to just one offer. Trading Castillo will form a hole in the Mariners starting rotation. Yet, they might be ready to part ways if they are able to strengthen their infield and find a good replacement for Castillo.

Dodgers Could Part Ways With Landon Knack And Gavin Lux For Luis Castillo
Landon Knack just started out for his team, and he has a lot of work to do. Knack recorded a 3-5 record with a 3.65 ERA in his regular season. If they land Castillo, Knack’s role in Los Angeles would not be of huge significance. Yet, he could be a requirement for the Mariners.
Additionally, they could part ways with Gavin Lux, who can also be redundant. Lux was not his best defensively, but he hit a career-high 10 home runs in the 2024 season. Now comes the money part. According to the Dodgers Nation, the team could land Castillo for $108 million.

It seems out of reach for a team with more than $1 billion in deferred money. However, they have been creative in acquiring players, plus they have other sources of income that will help them in the long run. That said, it’s hard to rule out the possibility of the team trying to acquire Castillo.
Apart from these rumors, Anthony Santander is predicted to remain in the AL East, with a new team emerging as a favorite.
