Luis Alfredo Rivas-Clase, one of the men who allegedly plotted to kill former Boston Red Sox great David Ortiz in 2019, was shot and killed over the weekend in Puerto Rico.
Luis Alfredo Rivas-Clase died after a car chase and a shootout, Listin Diario reported. He was gunned down outside of a shopping center. The suspects in the shooting have not been identified.
TMZ Sports added that Rivas-Clase still wanted in the shooting of Ortiz.
Back in 2019, Ortiz was shot in the back at the Dial Bar and Lounge in Santo Domingo in what authorities say was a case of mistaken identity. He was transported to Boston the following day after undergoing initial surgery in the Dominican Republic.

Police said a suspected drug trafficker offered to pay $30,000 for the murder of a man who was sitting with Ortiz at the time of the shooting. He was released from the hospital more than a month after the shooting.
Ortiz spent 14 years with the Red Sox and was a contributor on three World Series-winning teams in 2004, 2007 and 2013.
