On Thursday, the Boston Red Sox are set to visit the White House to commemorate them winning the 2018 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Several players including Mookie Betts, David Price, and even manager Alex Cora have already stated their unwillingness to visit President Trump.
If he was one the team, Red Sox legend David Ortiz would be another player who wouldn’t be going on this trip.
In a recent interview with WEEI’s Rob Bradford, Ortiz ripped Trump apart by saying, “I’m an immigrant. You don’t want to go and shake hands with a guy who is treating immigrants like (expletive).”
Manager Alex Cora was one who brought up the unwillingness of Trump to help Puerto Rico during their post-Hurricane Maria recovery.
“Of course, bro,” Ortiz told Bradford. “Alex is in a tough spot right now, going there and acting like nothing is happening.
“It’s like you are going to shake hands with the enemy. Think about it, all the stuff that has been going on since (Trump) took office. People are angry. People are mad. He has divided people, that’s how it feels like.”
As far as Ortiz is concerned, it is extremely hard to separate the 2018 World Series victory from the politics of the person in office.

“Once you see what is going in this country based on being an immigrant or being black, it’s something that goes beyond going into the White House and shaking hands with the President just because,” he added. “That’s the situation that everyone is facing right now.”
