That’s certainly one of the filthiest breaking balls you’ll see all season long. We wish opposing hitters luck the rest of the way in trying to make contact on Moreta’s wrong way slider.
The 27-year-old Moreta is in his first season with the Pirates. He’s been one of their most consistent players all year long, compiling a record of 4-2 with an ERA of 3.32. Moreta has struck out 59 batters in 43.1 innings pitched.
Pittsburgh has struggled mightily coming out of the All-Star beak, having lost six of their first seven games in the second half. They only snapped a five-game losing streak against the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday before dropping the series opener to the Angels.
Entering play on Saturday afternoon, the Pirates are a whopping 10 games out of the final wild card spot in the National League. They’ll try to get back into the win column with a Saturday evening showdown in Anaheim.
