It was a tough night at Minute Maid Park after the game between the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs became less about the match-up and more about an unfortunate incident.
The game came to a screeching halt after a Albert Almora Jr. line drive struck a small child seated in the stands. The shock and horror of the incident was evident by the players reactions on the field.
Following the Cubs 2-1 victory — Kris Bryant spoke to reporters had a strong statement about Major League Baseball needing to increase netting around the field to prevent things such as this.
He’s not wrong. Dozens of balls fly at blazing speeds into the stands every single day, with the occasional bat or broken bat that could make things that much more dangerous.
