Houston Astros fans were less than pleased with the home-plate ump during Game 1 of the World Series against the Washington Nationals.
Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning, Josh Reddick came up to the plate with a man on base. When he swung at a pitch, he appeared to contact the glove of Nationals catcher Kurt Suzuki. Usually that means, the batter gets awarded 1st base.
However, the home plate umpire missed the catcher’s interference and the play is not reviewable. Reddick would eventually record an out. That was a huge moment in the game.
Here’s that moment.
George Springer walked on the next at bat, which mean Jose Altuve would would’ve been looking at a bases loaded situation with only one out.
