Cody Bellinger is predicted to be out of the Chicago Cubs uniform soon as trade rumors are heating up. The New York Yankees are on a mission to acquire star players to bolster their roster. The Yanks have enough money to add a few more players despite acquiring Max Fried and Jonathan Loaisiga.
Missing out on Juan Soto has opened doors for the team to get more position players. The Yankees have been linked with Cody Bellinger for a long time, and they seem to be making progress.
Adding Bellinger will enhance the team’s offense and provide more support defensively. The two-time All-Star has some incredible numbers with the Dodgers and the Cubs. Bellinger will be a top addition alongside Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Anthony Volpe.
The latest buzz is that the Yankees and the Cubs have made progress with Belli. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, both teams have discussed the money. Bellinger is due to close to $52.5 million for the next couple of years, and the Cubs are requesting the Yanks take on the full cost of acquiring the star.

“The hang-up was about money, with the Cubs asking the Yankees to take on nearly the full $52.5M Bellinger’s due over the next couple years, and the Yankees expecting more cash coming back,” Heyman wrote via the New York Post.
Yankees Could Finalize Cody Bellinger’s Trade After Resolving Financial Issues
Cody Bellinger’s contract with the Cubs until 2025 is $27.5 million with his player option. Bellinger was not ready to become a free agent as he exercised his player option. The Cubs will make good use of Belli by trading him to the Yanks.

This will open a way for the team to consider other options. The deal could work both ways, as the Yankees are in need of a left-handed slugger, especially after Soto’s departure. They are expected to finalize an agreement once they resolve the financial issues or sort things out on Belli’s contract.
As Heyman says, there’s some promise with the Yankees and Cubs trade for Bellinger. The Yanks are predicted to work their way and sign the slugger. Apart from Belli, they are also linked to Japanese star Roki Sasaki.
