Clayton Kershaw might not have had a great 2024 season with the Dodgers. Yet, it’s hard to ignore the fact that Kershaw has been an icon in Dodger Blue. The 10-time All-Star is one of the best pitchers on the franchise, and he’s played only for the Dodgers since 2008.
It’s hard to imagine Kershaw in another uniform, especially for Dodgers fans. Things keep changing in the league, and Kershaw might not return to Los Angeles after all. Walker Buehler signed with the Boston Red Sox after being a Dodger for all his life. Will the same happen for Kershaw?
Given the situation, the Dodgers are yet to offer the veteran pitcher a deal. It turns out that he’s one of the few veteran pitchers on the free-agent market. However, he stands a better chance than Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer due to his age.

3) San Francisco Giants
The Giants are one of those teams that need rotational help for the 2025 season. San Francisco has Logan Webb and Robbie Ray to carry them forward. Adding a veteran pitcher like Kershaw will help the team. The Giants can also look to Kershaw for guidance in the upcoming season. Kershaw will make a perfect fit since they have lost left-handed pitcher Blake Snell to the Dodgers.
2) Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles failed to retain Corbin Burnes, who had an incredible 2024 season. If Baltimore wants to be a serious playoff contender, they must fill Burnes’ position. Yet, Kershaw alone might not be a perfect fit. However, they could sign the veteran for a short two-year deal and help bolster their starting rotation.
1) Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw have come a long way. The southpaw wants to remain on the team and is expected to work the other way around. Kershaw declined his 2025 option with the team but wants to return. The Dodgers are playing the waiting game. If the veteran does not get an offer from another team, the Dodgers are expected to give him a one-year deal.

After signing Snell, they seem to have their rotation intact and in better form. Kershaw will help the team’s presence against opponents. On the other hand, Pete Alonso’s rumors are picking up the pace with a new AL West in the mix.
