The last month’s trade between the Cincinnati Reds and Kansas City Royals saw a young Brady Singer involved in the young offseason. It was high time for Singer to make his mark in the big league. However, this trade gets us back to the time Brady was drafted into the MLB.
It was the same time around a couple of years back. On Christmas Day in 2018, a video surfaced on social media that brought attention to a heartwarming moment. Singer surprised his parents by paying off all their debts. Captured in a viral video, the emotional scene shows Singer’s mom opening a heartfelt letter from her son. As she reads it aloud, tears fill her eyes.
“Dear Mom and Dad, I just wanted to say thank you for everything you’ve done to help me reach my dreams,” the letter read.

“There’s absolutely no way I could’ve done this all by myself. Both of you constantly took off of work and spent every dime you made just to put a smile on my face. My smile and appreciation for both of you has never stopped and it never will,” Singer wrote.
Brady got candid while looking back on the time when his parents spent countless hours driving him to games and practices. It was a great gesture from the athlete’s side to clear his parents’ bank loan and all the debts they had. It was only possible with his rookie contract with the Royals worth $4.25 million. The Royals took him with the 18th overall pick in the 2018 Draft.

Brady Singer Signed An Exciting Deal With Cincinnati Reds
In the recent trade, Singer is headed to Cincinnati. He came in exchange for Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer, given the team’s strategic move heading into the offseason. He will be looking forward to a fresh start with the Reds. Having taken the last couple of weeks to adjust to the transition, he expresses excitement about joining a talented pitching staff.
“I am really excited for sure. The young talent on this team and the starting staff is really fun to watch. I am excited to get there and meet the new guys. It’s a great opportunity to learn new things from different people as well,” Singer said during his interview.
Thank you so much for the memories KC. To the city, my teammates and coaches, you all will always hold a special place in my heart and I will never forget my time as a Royal! https://t.co/ezMnOaMKOe

He reflected on the opportunity to learn from new teammates and be part of a team with a thriving atmosphere. With a solid season behind him where he posted a 9-13 record with a 3.71 ERA over 179 2/3 innings in 2024, the 28-year-old sees this as an exciting next chapter in his career.
An interesting aspect of Brady Singer’s relocation to Cincinnati is his decision to wear No. 51. The number holds personal significance for him because he wore it in Kansas City. Graham Ashcraft previously wore the number, and Singer humorously shared that he had to negotiate a bit to secure it.
