Baseball is back! And it appears as though the people in Chicago built up quite a bit of anger over the offseason, because they were letting it all out in the stands over the weekend.
During Saturday’s game between the White Sox and Orioles at Kauffman Stadium, at least a dozen fans (male and female) were seen throwing punches and pulling hair in an all-out brawl that lasted a few minutes before security decided to intervene.
Some fans in the area tried to break things up, but most attempts were futile, as the action picked back up several times after it appeared as though the fighting had stopped.
The White Sox would go on to win the game in extra innings, 7-6. Even with the victory, they are still just 6-9 on the season, which might explain why tensions are a little high between their fans at the moment.
Following a season in which they went 81-81 to finish second in the AL Central, the White Sox went through quite the makeover this offseason — adding guys like Andrew Benintendi, Mike Clevinger and Elvis Andrus, while losing several key players including Jose Abreu, AJ Pollock and Josh Harrison.
So far, the moves have not been paying off. Good thing it’s still only April, so there’s plenty of time to turn it around.
