Chicago Cubs legend Sammy Sosa seemingly revealed the about about if he took steroids about his playing career.
Like many other greats of his time, Sammy Sosa has been kept out of the Baseball Hall of Fame due to accusations and widespread belief that he took performance-enhancing drugs. Even with 609 career home runs, 1,667 RBI and seven All-Star nods, Sosa suffered the same fate as other ’90s superstars like Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire.
In a letter penned to the public, Sosa seemingly admitted to taking steroids during his controversial career, via Andrew Seligman of the Associated Press:
“There were times I did whatever I could to recover from injuries in an effort to keep my strength up to perform over 162 games. I never broke any laws. But in hindsight, I made mistakes and I apologize.”
On a brighter note, Sammy Sosa and the Cubs have mended the fences after their relationship soured.

The legendary Sosa-McGwire home run chase of 1998 remains one of the most iconic moments in American sports. So after all these years, it’s time for Sosa and the Cubs to move forward and celebrate the past.
