Nolan Arenado’s future seems to be hanging by a thread after the Boston Red Sox acquired Alex Bregman. The Red Sox were rumored to pursue Arenado to play third base. Bregman played the spoiler for Arenado after signing a $120 million three-year deal.
The Cardinals are ready to part ways with Arenado. Despite a few teams expressing their interest, Arenado’s trade seems to be delayed. Pitchers and catchers have already reported, and spring training is just around the corner. The Cardinals will be forced to continue with Arenado on their squad.
Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak opened up on Nolan Arenado’s future amid ongoing delays.
“I still think he’s a professional baseball player and he’s currently a St. Louis Cardinal. “Would that mean trying to accomplish something during spring training? Possibly, but there are no guarantees at that point,” Mozeliak said.
Mozeliak further mentioned that he was restricted to the number of teams when it came to trading Arenado.

“If you think back to when we started discussing the possibility of trading Nolan Arenado, we thought all along that we could probably do something this offseason, but it just hasn’t happened,” Mozeliak said. “Ultimately, I did not have a large list of teams, and it wasn’t like there were 29 teams I could take him to, so I’m trying to navigate what I could work with. Obviously, it hasn’t moved at the pace many of us had hoped for,” Mozeliak continued via the New York Post.

Yankees Continue To Be A Point Of Interest For Nolan Arenado
The Bronx Bombers were among the few teams expressing interest in the veteran slugger. The Yanks were trying to secure a top player for their third base. Arenado will be a perfect fit for the team, but there has been no further talks of a trade.
The Yankees are also keen on trading Marcus Stroman. If the Cardinals get the right deal, they might consider a trade for Stroman. As Mozeliak says, it’s going to take a while for Arenado to find a team.
Nolan Arenado is keen on joining the Boston Red Sox. Arenado has six teams on his wishlist: Red Sox, Mets, Phillies, Angels, Dodgers, and Padres. However, he has not expressed interest in joining the Yankees for now.
