We’re just a little over two months away from the start of the 2019 MLB season and shots are already being thrown between rivals.
At the 34th Annual Cubs Convention in Chicago — Cubs star Kris Bryant had a few critical words to say about St. Louis during a live conversation with former Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster.
During his conversation, he began to speak about a Florida Georgia Line concert when he saw rapper Nelly in attendance. The mere mentioning of him being a Cardinals fan got fans booing like crazy about their rival.
Bryant then added to it by stating how he felt about St. Louis as a city.
“[Nelly] was trying to work the magic on Bryce [Harper],” Bryant said of his longtime friend and superstar free agent, before playfully adding, “Who would want to play in St. Louis? It’s so boring. I always get asked, ‘Where do you like to play, where do you not like to play?’ And St. Louis is a place I don’t like to play.”
“I remember when I was getting traded,” said Dempster, “and they asked me, ‘Hey, how about St. Louis?’ I said, ‘Zero chance, pal. No way.’ I wouldn’t even go there as a free agent. Not happening.”
“It’s rough,” Bryant concluded.
Once that video started to make the rounds — Cardinals fans took to Twitter and blasted Bryant for his disrespect.
