It’s July 1, which means MLB fans will spend the day laughing at the New York Mets still paying an almost 60-year-old Bobby Bonilla over $1 million.
However, not many fans realize that Bonilla also gets another check from another team on this same day as well.
The Baltimore Orioles are also on the hook for $500,000 a year through 2028, while the Mets are paying him through 2035.
Bonilla last played for the Mets in 1999 and last played in the majors for the Cardinals in 2001.
During his career, Bobby earned a combined $52 million in salary over 16 seasons between 1986 and 2001.
