Blake Snell is back to being a free agent after opting out of his contract with the San Francisco Giants. Snell signed a $62 million two-year deal with the Giants in March 2024. The Giants agreed to a $17 million signing bonus in 2026 and a $30 million player option for 2025.
The two-time Cy Young Winner is keen on exploring other options as he looks forward to a lucrative deal. Snell’s 2024 season with the Giants was not perfect, but he pitched his way to earn a ‘no-hitter.’ Snell finished with a 5-3 record and a decent 3.12 ERA.
Many were surprised when Snell opted out of his contract. However, it’s evident that Snell is looking for a deal that will help him in the long run. At 31 years old, a longer deal will help him settle down with a team before entering the tail-end of his career.
It took Snell a long time to sign with a team last offseason. However, this year seems more interesting, as the Baltimore Orioles are rumored to go all in for the star pitcher. The latest rumors are that the O’s are in pursuit of Snell with a three-year deal worth $105 million.
Snell will be happy to return to the AL East Division, but the Orioles have yet to decide on Corbin Burnes. The biggest question is whether the O’s will choose Snell over Burnes.
There is a possibility for the O’s to sign Snell, especially since they can make good use of a left-handed pitcher.

Craig Counsell And Corbin Burnes Reunion Could Bolster Blake Snell’s Deal With The Orioles
Corbin Burnes had an exceptional season with the Orioles after recording a stellar 2.92 ERA with a 15-9 record. Burnes was great on the mound, which will give him better options than Snell. The righty could get more from other teams, and the O’s might not be ready to pay his price or sign a long-term deal.
On the other hand, there are rumors that Burnes will reunite with his former manager, Craig Counsell. Burnes’s possible move to the Chicago Cubs is not too bad, as they could easily become a playoff team.
It’s also worth noting that Counsell is familiar with Burnes’ pitching abilities. The duo worked together with the Milwaukee Brewers, and Burnes achieved great things with Counsell as his manager.
If the Cubs provide an excellent offer for Burnes, Blake Snell to the Orioles will start to fall in shape. This means the O’s could part ways if they are not ready to pay Burnes what he wants. While these are just rumors, it’s left to be seen where Snell and Burnes will pitch in 2025.
Apart from these, Alex Bregman trade rumors and Juan Soto rumors are heating up as the offseason takes full swing.
