The Baltimore Orioles have parted ways with Anthony Santander. It’s safe to say that Baltimore made it to the postseason last year because of Santander’s performance. The slugger played a crucial role for the team and smashed 44 home runs.
Santander was also a strong defender but the O’s were not keen on a reunion. The Toronto Blue Jays signed the slugger to a five-year deal worth $92.5 million. Baltimore fans are upset that the team did not retain their favorite player. The O’s took to their X account to share a tribute video of Santander with the caption: “See you tater, Tony best of luck in Toronto.”
Several Orioles fans were angry as they commented on the video and called out the team for missing out on Santander. Here’s a look at some fan reactions.
“Mike Elias did this,” wrote one fan.

Baltimore Orioles Have A Hole To Fill In Their Lineup
Missing out on Santander is going to be a huge problem for the team. Imagine a player who hit more home runs than Juan Soto in 2024 but is not on the team anymore. The O’s have a hole to fill in their lineup before they head into the next season.
Former Orioles legend Jim Palmer was among many who were unhappy with Santander’s departure. Palmer took to social media to express his feelings.
“Sorry to lose Anthony Santander. But he deserves to be paid well and the Blue Jays were willing to go to 5 years, over $90 million. Wish him nothing but good health, a classy talented player that helped the O’s back to respectability,” Palmer said.
It’s surprising to see the Orioles miss out on a switch hitter. Many believe that they had the means but failed to pursue Santander. It’s natural for fans to be upset. On the other hand, the Atlanta Braves are predicted to sign a World Series pitcher.
