A jersey baseball legend Babe Ruth wore in one of his defining career moments is expected to sell for a record price at auction.
The very jersey that Babe Ruth wore during his “Called Shot” moment in Game 3 of the 1932 World Series is going up for sale at Heritage Auctions, and it’s set to easily break the record for the most expensive MLB jersey ever sold.
This special piece of MLB history will be going up for sale at Heritage Auctions. The bidding runs from Aug. 23-25 and is expected to net around $30 million at auction, according to Heritage Auctions:
For those unfamiliar, the “Called Shot” legend is one of the most disputed moments in baseball among fans and historians. The story goes that Ruth pointed toward centerfield in Game 3 of the World Series between his New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs.
After the “pointing” gesture, Babe Ruth hammered a curveball from Cubs pitcher Charlie Root into center field for a homer. To this day, folks still debate whether Ruth was really “calling his shot” or pointing to something else before the homer.

Babe Ruth also wore the most expensive MLB jersey ever sold. In 2019, someone purchased a Yankees jersey he wore from 1928-1930 for $5.64 million at an auction.
Babe Ruth Is Regarded As The GOAT Of Baseball
More than seven decades after his untimely passing at the age of 53 in 1948, “The Sultan of Swat” is still widely regarded as the best baseball player to ever live. Some would argue Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds (depending on your stance about him using PEDs), or even Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout.
It’s hard to compare eras, but Ruth single-handedly grew the game of baseball in the 1910s and 1920s well before his career slowed down in the 30s. The two-way superstar batted .342 with 2,873 career hits and 714 homers to go along with a 2.28 ERA and a 94-46 record as a pitcher.
