The Houston Astros have not had a good 2020, and this has nothing to do with their cheating scandal.
The team is currently 11-10 and several players on the team are struggling at the plate during this short coronavirus season in 2020. It has now affected them in the video game world as well.
“MLB The Show 20” assigns players overall ratings for the game and anybody that receives an 85-or-higher rating gets a diamond: 80-84 is gold; 75-79 is silver; and bronze is 65-74.
Jose Altuve and George Springer have dropped from diamond ratings to gold ones due to their poor performances on the field thus far. Altuve was the No. 1-ranked second baseman prior to the start of the season, and his 85 rating made him the only diamond-quality player at the position.
Springer also had diamond status and has since dropped as well.
Springer is batting .189/.338/.377 this season. Altuve is batting .171/.244/.305 and has been dropped to the seventh spot in the team’s lineup.

As expected, fans on social media believe their drop has everything to do with their cheating scandal being unveiled, but that notion loses traction when you consider the solid play from Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel, Carlos Correa and Michael Brantley.
