There are 21 people today that are thankful to be alive after they were set to fly to Boston for the upcoming Houston Astros ALCS game against the Red Sox. Unfortunately, something went terribly wrong when the flight never made it off the ground, smashed through a fence and crashed.
The plane would soon catch fire. According to a local report by KHOU11, everyone on boad survived the crash, and that included a 10-year-old.
“The airplane rolled down the runway, struck a fence, and from there, became disabled,” the Waller County sheriff said. “We’re thankful all of the passengers and crew members were able to extract themselves, and that’s when the first responders came and went to work to extinguish the fire.”
19 of the 21 passengers are reportedly fine. Two went to the hospital for their injuries, but they are expected to fully recover.
“Anytime you have plane that doesn’t make a landing on the runway like its supposed to, we’re always expecting the worst and hoping for the best and today, we absolutely, positively got the best outcome we could hope for,” said Tim Gibson, Emergency Service District Director for Waller-Harris Emergency Service District 200.
The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the crash.
