More and more athletes are using their platforms to speak out amid the outrage of the death by George Floyd by Minneapolis cops.
Alex Bregman just became the latest when the Astros 3rd baseman took to Twitter and posted a message that said, “We are not free until we are all free.”
Floyd’s death has led to non-stop protesting and the destruction of a lot of businesses in the Minneapolis area. The four officers involved in the arrest and death of Floyd have since been fired and in hiding as the public seeks justice for an unnecessary death.
Bregman earned the 2019 American League Silver Slugger Award and led the AL in WAR, Walks, Times on Base, and Runs Created. He also finished second in American League MVP Voting.
With the MLB season on hold and in-between training, Bregman hosted a 24-hour live steam event on Twitch, which has raised over $1.8 million for the Houston Food Bank. The goal is to reach $3 million.
