New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman was left with a smirk on his face as he watched in horror as Jose Altuve blasted a walk-off home run to clinch the ALCS in 2019.
Who knew Chapman would be getting the last laugh.
On Friday, the Yankees closer took to Instagram and posted his reaction to hearing about the news on their sign-stealing scandal that has gotten 3 managers fired. Chapman posted a GIF of Michael Jackson eating popcorn in a movie theater from the “Thriller” video with the all-caps headline of, “”Me watching all the Astros cheating drama go down.”
Aside from the camera and banging on a trash can, there was also an allegation of several Astros players wearing buzzers underneath their jerseys to be alerted of incoming pitches. That was dispelled by MLB during their investigation.
That moment during Altubve’s walkoff has been heavily scrutinized after slow-mo video showed him telling his teammates not to rip his jersey off.
